About athleteGPS (TM)
athleteGPS is a communication and athlete‑support platform operated by Athlead Partners LLC. Schools, coaches, administrators, and parents use athleteGPS to coordinate athletic activities, receive updates, and support athlete well‑being. This page explains how SMS consent is collected for parents, coaches, and school administrators who participate in school‑managed athletic programs. All SMS messaging is strictly informational and directly related to the athleteGPS platform.

Parents and guardians receive athlete‑support alerts such as:

Messages are strictly informational and never promotional.
Coaches & Administrators
Coaches and administrators receive:

Message categories are role‑specific and never promotional.
How Consent Is Collected
1. Parent/Guardian SMS Opt‑In (Required)
Parents and guardians provide their mobile number inside the athleteGPS app during athlete setup. After the number is submitted, athleteGPS sends a consent request SMS:
“Reply YES to receive recurring SMS messages from athleteGPS regarding athlete‑support alerts. Message frequency varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance.”
Parents must reply YES to complete opt‑in. No messages are sent until consent is confirmed. This reply serves as the required double opt‑in.
2. Coach & Administrator Opt‑In (Invite Process)
Coaches and administrators receive an invitation to join athleteGPS. During the invite process, they:
manually enter their phone number
review the SMS consent disclosure
provide explicit consent by checking the consent box
The consent statement displayed during registration is:
“I agree to receive recurring SMS messages from athleteGPS regarding onboarding, weekly updates, and athlete‑support alerts. Message frequency varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance.”
Consent is never implied, pre‑checked, or shared. Users must take an affirmative action to opt in.

Opt‑Out Instructions
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any athleteGPS message. After opting out, you will no longer receive SMS alerts unless you opt in again.

Data Handling & Storage
athleteGPS uses a secure, encrypted storage model for guardian contact information:
AES‑256‑GCM encrypted phone numbers
AES‑256‑GCM encrypted email addresses
SHA‑256 hashes for inbound SMS matching and duplicate detection
Encryption keys stored outside the database
Passwords stored in hashed form
Plaintext usernames only where technically required for login
Temporary invite emails stored in plaintext until consumed or encrypted
Twilio and SendGrid deliver messages but do not store guardian contact information on behalf of athleteGPS.
Encrypted contact information is used solely for:
message delivery
consent verification
account notifications
Athlead Partners LLC retains SMS consent records as required for compliance and verification.
