athleteGPS Terms & Conditions (SMS + App)

1. Introduction

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the athleteGPS platform (“the Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. Parents or legal guardians must accept these Terms on behalf of minor athletes.

2. Eligibility & Guardian Responsibility

athleteGPS is designed for youth athletes. All accounts for minors must be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian. Guardians are responsible for:

• providing consent for communication

• managing SMS and email preferences

• supervising the athlete’s use of the platform

3. Minimal Data Collection & Zero‑PII Architecture

athleteGPS is intentionally designed to minimize the collection of personal information.

We do not store:

• phone numbers

• email addresses

• names

• addresses

• birthdates

Instead:

• Phone numbers are stored securely by Twilio

• Email addresses are stored securely by SendGrid

• athleteGPS stores only anonymous identifiers (Twilio identity, SendGrid contact ID)

This architecture ensures that sensitive contact information is never stored in our database.

4. SMS Messaging Terms

By opting in, guardians agree to receive SMS alerts related to their athlete’s activity.

Opt‑In Methods

Guardians may opt in through:

• a secure web form inside the athleteGPS app

• replying YES to a consent message sent by Twilio

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on athlete activity.

Carrier Disclosures

• Message and data rates may apply

• Messages are delivered by Twilio

• Phone numbers are not stored or shared by athleteGPS

Opt‑Out Instructions

Guardians may opt out at any time by replying:

• STOP to end messages

• HELP for assistance

Opt‑out requests are processed immediately by Twilio.

5. Email Messaging Terms

Guardians may receive email alerts related to athlete activity.

• Email delivery is handled by SendGrid

• athleteGPS does not store email addresses

• Guardians may unsubscribe using SendGrid’s built‑in unsubscribe link

6. Non‑Sharing of Contact Information

athleteGPS does not share, sell, rent, or transfer guardian phone numbers or email addresses. Because athleteGPS does not store these identifiers, they cannot be shared.

Twilio and SendGrid store contact information solely for message delivery and consent management.

7. Account Security & Passwords

Athlete accounts use password‑based authentication.

• Passwords are stored in hashed form

• athleteGPS does not store any contact information for password recovery

• Password resets are performed through guardian‑verified channels (SMS or email)

• Guardians must approve password resets for minors

8. Acceptable Use

Users agree not to:

• misuse the platform

• attempt to access accounts without authorization

• interfere with platform operations

• submit harmful or inappropriate content

Violation may result in account suspension or termination.

9. Service Availability

We strive to maintain reliable service but do not guarantee:

• uninterrupted access

• error‑free operation

• real‑time delivery of alerts

Twilio and SendGrid may experience delays or carrier‑level filtering.

10. Limitation of Liability

athleteGPS is not liable for:

• carrier delays

• undelivered messages

• misuse of accounts

• guardian failure to monitor athlete activity

The platform is provided “as is” without warranties.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms as needed. The latest version will always be available on this page.
