athleteGPS Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the athleteGPS platform (“the Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. Parents or legal guardians must accept these Terms on behalf of minor athletes.
2. Eligibility & Guardian Responsibility
athleteGPS is designed for youth athletes. All accounts for minors must be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian.
Guardians are responsible for:
providing consent for communication
managing SMS and email preferences
supervising the athlete’s use of the platform
ensuring accuracy of contact information
3. Minimal Data Collection & Encrypted Storage Architecture
athleteGPS intentionally minimizes the collection of personal information and uses industry‑standard encryption for all sensitive data.
We do not collect or store minor PII, including:
names
addresses
birthdates
phone numbers
email addresses
Guardian contact information
Guardians may provide a phone number or email address for communication purposes. These identifiers are stored only in encrypted form:
AES‑256‑GCM encryption for phone numbers and emails
SHA‑256 hashes for inbound SMS matching and duplicate detection
We do not store plaintext phone numbers or emails in our database, except where technically required (e.g., login usernames or temporary invite emails until consumed or encrypted).
Twilio and SendGrid are used only to deliver messages. They do not store guardian contact information on behalf of athleteGPS.
4. SMS Messaging Terms
Opt‑In Methods
Guardians may opt in to SMS alerts by:
entering their mobile number inside the athleteGPS app
replying YES to a consent message sent by athleteGPS through Twilio
Only after replying YES are SMS alerts activated. This reply serves as the required double opt‑in.
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on athlete activity and guardian preferences.
Carrier Disclosures
Message and data rates may apply
Messages are delivered by Twilio
Encrypted phone numbers are used solely for message delivery
Opt‑Out Instructions
Guardians may opt out at any time by replying:
STOP to end messages
HELP for assistance
Opt‑out requests are processed immediately.
5. Email Messaging Terms
Guardians may receive email alerts related to athlete activity.
Emails are delivered by SendGrid
Encrypted email addresses are used for delivery
Guardians may unsubscribe using SendGrid’s built‑in unsubscribe link
6. Non‑Sharing of Contact Information
athleteGPS does not sell, rent, share, or transfer guardian phone numbers or email addresses.
Encrypted contact information is used solely for:
message delivery
consent management
account notifications
We do not share contact information with coaches, athletes, or third parties.
7. Account Security & Passwords
Athlete accounts use password‑based authentication.
Passwords are stored in hashed form
athleteGPS does not store plaintext contact information for password recovery
Password resets are performed through guardian‑verified channels (SMS or email)
Guardians must approve password resets for minors
8. Acceptable Use
Users agree not to:
misuse the platform
attempt to access accounts without authorization
interfere with platform operations
submit harmful or inappropriate content
Violation may result in account suspension or termination.
9. Service Availability
We strive to maintain reliable service but do not guarantee:
uninterrupted access
error‑free operation
real‑time delivery of alerts
Twilio and SendGrid may experience delays or carrier‑level filtering.
10. Limitation of Liability
athleteGPS is not liable for:
carrier delays
undelivered messages
misuse of accounts
guardian failure to monitor athlete activity
The platform is provided “as is” without warranties.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms as needed. The latest version will always be available on this page.
